Open Water Swimming
OPEN WATER HAS FINISHED FOR 2011 - SEE YOU NEXT YEAR
Open water
swimming takes place at Top Barn Farm Activity Centre on a weekly basis during the
warmer months. Following the swim session club members have the opportunity to run
or bike on the extensive trails around Top Barn Farm. The cost for an individual
sessions is £3 per person for club members (membership is £25 for the year, membership
forms can be downloaded here.)
Non-members of Absolute Tri Club are welcome - no joining fee and just £4 per session but please bring along your disclaimer.
The lake at Top Barn in considered to be one of the Midlands premier open water swimming venues, it’s ideal for beginners as it’s less than 5 feet at its deepest. Swimmers also have access to changing rooms with showers and there is plenty of free parking.For further details, please contact us.
We offer our members a chance to open water swim, cycle and run all at the same venue. Currently there are two short running trails on-site, the swim lake and miles of beautiful countryside for bike sessions. Combine that with short hills perfect for hill reps and the circumference of the lake is approximately half a mile, just right for speed sessions and efforts. The car parking is right by the lake so it is possible for triathletes to practice transitions from swim to bike, without any great hassle.
The lake is only 4ft6 deep at its deepest and is perfectly clear with a buoy marked course of approximately 750metres. The sessions are free of watercraft and used just for swimmers making it ideal for first timers. Showers and changing facilities, hot drinks and chilled sports drinks are all available.
